National joint introduction is carried out within the framework of the Regions' collaboration model for medical technology, which is part of the National system for knowledge management in healthcare. Through nationally organized introduction, all of Sweden's regions work together to achieve equal, cost-effective and effective use of medical devices throughout the country.

The medical technology product council, the MTP council, gives recommendations on the introduction and use of medical devices. The MTP council's evaluation group is responsible for the work with horizon scanning of medical devices and prepares cases for the MTP council.
